NFC Student Scholarships
The North Florida College Foundation, Inc.is a separate not-for-profit, IRS approved 501© (3) corporation chartered to provide financially for the educational needs of NFC programs and students that cannot be met through state and/or federal aid or student tuition income.
NOTE: The NFC Foundation is located in Building 36. Due to the age of our building, there is not an accessible entrance. If you need to meet with NFC Foundation staff and require special accommodations, please call 850-973-9414 and we will schedule a meeting in an accessible building/location on campus.
Before You Apply
- Step 1: Complete the NFC Admission Application
- Step 2: File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); NFC's FAFSA school code is 001508; The FAFSA may take up to 3 weeks to process online)
- Step 3: Complete an NFC Foundation Scholarship application online.

Application Instructions
The NFC Foundation Scholarship application cannot save your progress. Before beginning a Fall, Spring, or Summer scholarship application, please collect the following items that may be required for upload at the end of the application:
- Cover letter: One cover letter is required. The letter should explain why you are a good candidate and how you would benefit from receiving a scholarship. The letter cannot be more than one year old. Examples: https://m.wikihow.com/Write-a-Cover-Letter
- Letters of recommendation: Two letters of recommendation are required. The letters may be written by anyone other than immediate family members. The letters cannot be more than one year old.
- Transcript: A transcript may be required. If you are a new student at NFC or have not been enrolled at NFC for more than two semesters, you must upload a copy of your most current transcript from any other school you have attended. The transcript must show at least a one-year period of attendance and is used to verify a minimum 2.0 GPA and graduation or GED certification date. If you have already submitted the required transcript to NFC Admissions, you may instead upload a document stating that the NFC Foundation has permissions to request your transcript from NFC Admissions.
- Essay: An essay is not required. If you would like to be considered for a scholarship that requires an essay, please click on the list of Scholarships Requiring Essays to review the criteria. There is an optional upload field at the end of the scholarship application where you may submit up to 3 essays.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to reapply every semester?
A: No. There is a scholarship application for each term in the school year (Fall, Spring, and Summer). You do not need to apply in every term. Students who complete an NFC Foundation scholarship application are eligible for scholarship consideration in that term and any remaining terms in the school year. (Note: The Fall Term begins a new school year, so all students wishing to be considered in a new school year must reapply in the Fall Term.)
All scholarship applicants must be registered for classes by the scholarship deadlines to be considered for a scholarship in that term.
- Fall Term Deadline: July 20
- Spring Term Deadline: November 11
- Summer Term Deadline: April 28
Q: Should I apply for a specific scholarship?
A: No. Completing one, online application allows you to be considered for all scholarships available at the NFC Foundation. The NFC Foundation uses the information you provide on your application to determine any scholarships for which you are eligible. Students may review the types of NFC Foundation scholarships linked at the top of this webpage to determine any specific information they would like to include for consideration on their application.
Q: I have already earned a bachelor’s degree. Am I eligible to receive a Foundation scholarship?
A: Yes. Students who have earned a bachelor's degree or higher are eligible to be considered for a $500 scholarship from the NFC Foundation. Please explain in your cover letter why you are seeking an additional degree at NFC.
Q: Do you offer scholarships for the CDL program?
A: Yes. The NFC Foundation CDL scholarship application in included in the CDL class enrollment paperwork. For more information about joining a CDL class, please call Career and Workforce Education at 850-973-9470.
Q: Do you offer scholarships for programs that are not eligible for FAFSA (Non-Pell Eligible)?
