NFCC Nursing and Allied Health programs receive national accreditation
NFCC's associate and baccalaureate level nursing programs nationally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
MADISON, FL – The North Florida Community College Nursing and Allied Health department has taken another huge step forward in offering its students and graduates the best possible training and career options. NFCC’s associate and baccalaureate level nursing programs are now nationally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
“National nursing accreditation assures the public that NFCCs nursing programs adhere to the highest quality educational standards,” said Dr. Julie Townsend, Director of Nursing and Allied Health at NFCC. “This accreditation provides a gateway for NFCC’s graduates to continue their education at an accredited upper-level university of their choice. It also gives graduates a competitive edge in the workforce since most healthcare employers prefer to hire accredited nurses.”
The Healthcare industry recognizes the ACEN accreditation as a nationally established badge for training excellence. NFCC’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, Associate in Science in Registered Nursing (ADN-RN) and LPN to ADN-RN Bridge program all received accreditation from the ACEN Board of Commissioners.

NFCC’s programs are initially accredited for five years with the next evaluation visit by the ACEN Board of Commissioners scheduled for Spring 2023.
Townsend credits the outstanding NFCC nursing faculty and staff, and many NFCC colleagues for helping accomplish this monumental step forward for the program. “Reaching this milestone was definitely a group effort,” said Townsend. “I am blessed to be surrounded by such amazing, dedicated and talented colleagues.”
NFCC was accredited as a Level II baccalaureate degree-granting institution by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges in 2017, began its BSN program in August 2017 and honored its first BSN graduating class in 2018.
“We are extremely proud that our first BSN class and future associate and baccalaureate graduates will have ACEN credentials,” said Townsend.
