North Florida College named “Great College to Work For” by The Chronicle of Higher Education
NFC receives “Great College to Work For” Honor Roll designation for fifth consecutive year
MADISON, FL (September 14, 2020) – North Florida College is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for according to results released today by The Chronicle of Higher Education. This is NFC’s fifth consecutive year on the prestigious “Great College to Work For” ranking and NFC has again received Honor Roll designation for creating an exceptional work environment for its faculty and staff.
“To be recognized as a stand-out place to work for the fifth straight year, especially during a year of unprecedented challenges related to the pandemic, is very satisfying,” said NFC President John Grosskopf. “Each day I witness extraordinary levels of teamwork, support and respect across the NFC campus that make this a great place to work. The NFC family truly stands together, providing exceptional education to our students, and I am proud to see them recognized for creating such a positive work environment where the needs and contributions of each individual are valued.”
The “Great Colleges to Work For” survey is one of the largest and most respected workplace recognition programs in the country. Now in its thirteenth year, it recognizes the colleges that get top ratings from their employees regarding workplace practices and policies.
By the numbers:
- 221 institutions participated in 2020, including 127 four-year institutions and 94 two-year institutions.
- 79 institutions are recognized as a 2020 Great College to Work For, including 54 four-year institutions and 25 two-year institutions.
- 42 institutions, including NFC, are on the Honor Roll, recognized as stand-outs in their size categories.
NFC is one of only 79 institutions nationally to achieve the 2020 “Great College to Work For” recognition and the only two-year college in Florida to be recognized this year. NFC again received an Honor Roll designation, ranking among the top 42 institutions to be recognized as stand-outs in the 2020 listing.
NFC landed a spot on the Honor Roll for achieving high marks in six categories that reflect best practices and policies of great colleges. NFC was specifically recognized for achievement in the following areas:
- Facilities, Workspace, and Security
- Job Satisfaction
- Professional/Career Development
- Respect and Appreciation
- Supervisor/Department Chair Relationship
- Work/Life Balance
The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institutional questionnaire that captured employment data and workplace policies and practices from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.
“This year’s list of recognized institutions in the Great Colleges to Work For® program was united in their commitment to organization culture, even in the face of a worldwide pandemic,” said Richard K. Boyer, Senior Consultant at ModernThink. “They stand apart in their recognition that workplace culture can actually be a roadmap for navigating uncertainty. The institutions deserve special kudos for their commitment to being good stewards of institutional culture and workplace quality. In the face of unprecedented uncertainty, their commitment to faculty/staff engagement never wavered.”
