NFCC to start new CDL-Class A certification training class Sept. 13

Attend Required Orientation Session July 25, Aug. 1, Aug. 15 or Aug. 29

MADISON, FL– North Florida Community College and CareerSource North Florida are working together to get potential students ready to begin NFCC’s Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-Class A) certification program on Sept. 13 and on track to a new career in the trucking industry.

To be considered for the program, potential students must be at least 18-years-old and must attend an orientation session at NFCC to determine program and scholarship eligibility. Students who complete admission requirements and successfully enroll in the program may be eligible to have their tuition fully funded by CareerSource North Florida.

“Our new CDL program can be completed in 12 weeks and opens up many job opportunities to program graduates,” said David Dunkle, Associate Dean of Economic Development & Technical Programs at NFCC. “Our partnership with CareerSource North Florida assists students with tuition costs and our partnerships with area trucking and logging businesses shows our commitment to our students and community. This is a great program and opportunity for those looking for a new, in-demand career.”

Training focuses on the driving and technical skills needed to pass the CDL-Class A exam. This three-part exam includes a pre-trip inspection, driving maneuvers, and a road test. Students receive classroom instruction as well as driving time and instruction on the College’s certified driving range, city streets, rural roads, and the interstate. Students will practice driving during both day and night time frames. Classes are held at NFCC Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. with hours varying to compensate for night driving requirements.

Potential students are required to attend a one-hour NFCC CDL-Class A orientation session. Orientation sessions will be held at the NFCC Career and Technical Education Center (Bldg. 13, RM 221) in Madison, Fla. on the following dates.
